About Us
Built by a working handyman—for customers and handymen

My name is Rustam Shkezhev. I am a working handyman and the founder of iHandyman.
I built iHandyman after seeing the same problems from both sides of the job.
Customers often need more than one service, but finding one local professional who can handle the work—and is actually available—can take too much time. Handymen face a different problem: paid leads, commissions, advertising competition, and platforms that can place themselves between the professional and the customer.
I wanted to build something simpler and fairer.
iHandyman is a local discovery platform designed to help customers compare real professionals, see useful information before making contact, and communicate directly with the handyman they choose. For handymen, it is a place to present their work, services, availability, experience, and reputation without paying for every lead or buying a higher position in search.
That is the idea behind iHandyman.
Why iHandyman exists
iHandyman is built around a few simple principles:
- Search should help people find the right professional—not the biggest advertising budget.
- Customers should be able to see services and availability before making the first call.
- Handymen should be able to present themselves and their work clearly.
- No professional should be able to pay for a higher search position.
- iHandyman should not take a percentage of a handyman’s job.
- Communication between a customer and a handyman should stay direct and private.
- Personal information should not become an advertising product.
One search for real local help
iHandyman Smart Search is designed for real projects.
A customer can choose a city, select multiple services, and search by availability. The system compares those needs with the services and availability listed by local professionals.
If one handyman matches the complete request, the system can show that full match. If no one covers everything, the customer can still see the closest matches and understand which parts of the project each professional can handle.
A customer does not need to create an account simply to search, view profiles, or check availability.
Availability before the first call
Every handyman manages their own Live Availability.
Customers can see whether a professional is available, busy, available during part of the day, or has not yet confirmed availability.
This is not an automatic booking system. The final date, time, scope, and price are always confirmed directly between the customer and the handyman.
Direct communication means direct communication
iHandyman does not operate an internal customer-to-handyman chat, SMS relay, email relay, or call-recording system.
When a customer chooses to contact a handyman, the communication takes place directly through the customer’s own phone, messaging application, email application, or another service chosen by the customer and handyman.
iHandyman does not read, receive, record, or store those direct conversations.
We believe the platform should help two people find each other—not place itself inside their private conversation.
Profiles built by the professionals themselves
Handymen choose the information they want to publish on their profiles.
A profile may include services, service cities, experience, availability, accepted payment methods, portfolio photos and videos, completed projects, customer reviews, ratings, and other professional information.
The handyman provides and manages this information. iHandyman stores and displays it only as needed to operate the platform.
Public profile and portfolio media may be stored and delivered through Cloudflare. iHandyman does not sell that media or use a member’s profile or portfolio content in unrelated advertising campaigns without separate permission.
Identity verification, with clear limits
Identity verification for handyman members is handled through Stripe Identity.
Applicants submit identity-verification information directly to Stripe. iHandyman does not ask handymen to send identity documents to us, and our normal process does not retrieve, download, copy, store, or review their identity documents, selfies, biometric identifiers, or information extracted from those documents.
iHandyman receives the verification status or outcome and the limited technical reference needed to connect that result with the correct membership application.
An Identity Verified indicator means that the identity-verification process was completed. It does not mean that iHandyman guarantees a professional’s skills, licensing, insurance, reputation, or the outcome of future work.
Reviews and professional status serve different purposes
Customer reviews and star ratings reflect individual customer experiences.
iHandyman Status is separate. It is intended to show the professional’s current standing on the platform based on documented reports and review of confirmed issues.
A negative review alone does not automatically change a handyman’s status.
When a documented problem report is submitted, iHandyman may review the report, allow the handyman to respond, and consider the available information before changing profile status. Serious safety, fraud, or repeated harmful-conduct concerns may result in a profile being hidden or removed.
The goal is not to pretend that a platform can guarantee every job. The goal is to give customers more useful information while treating professionals fairly.
No paid placement
A handyman cannot pay iHandyman for a higher search position.
Search results are designed around relevant factors such as location, selected services, match coverage, and availability—not the size of a professional’s advertising budget.
No lead fees or job commissions
iHandyman does not sell individual customer leads to handymen and does not take a percentage of the price of work arranged through direct contact.
Handyman participation is based on membership.
That distinction matters to us. The platform should not make more money simply because a customer’s project costs more.
Privacy by default
iHandyman is deliberately designed to minimize unnecessary collection and tracking.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use advertising pixels, retargeting tools, session-recording tools, or cross-site behavioral trackers. We do not build advertising profiles from a visitor’s browsing activity.
Like any functioning website, iHandyman and its infrastructure providers process limited technical information needed to deliver pages, maintain accounts, prevent abuse, process payments, and protect the service.
Information that a customer or handyman intentionally submits to iHandyman—such as account information, a public profile, a review, or a problem report—is used for the feature for which it was provided and for the limited operational, security, and legal purposes explained in our Privacy Policy.
We want privacy to be part of how the product works, not just a statement at the bottom of the website.
A direct relationship between the customer and the handyman
iHandyman helps customers discover local professionals and helps professionals present themselves.
After that, the relationship is direct.
The customer and handyman decide the scope of work, price, materials, schedule, payment method, warranties, permits, and other job terms between themselves.
iHandyman does not set job prices, collect payment for the handyman’s work, supervise the job, become a party to the job agreement, or guarantee the outcome of a project.
Built to stay useful
iHandyman is still growing, but the principle behind it is simple:
- Make it easier to find the right local professional.
- Give handymen a fair place to show their work.
- Keep search independent from advertising money.
- Keep communication direct.
- Collect only what the service genuinely needs.
I built the platform I wanted to use as a working handyman, and I want it to remain useful to both sides as it grows.
